Pennsylvania’s 188th legislative district of West Philly encompasses the neighborhoods of University City, Cedar Park, Walnut Hill, Garden Court, and parts of SW Philadelphia. Over the past few years, we have experienced a rebirth of the rich history and culture of these once proud communities through urban (re) development. Through hard work and creative collective thinking, we are now at the threshold of creating a truly vibrant district.
It is imperative moving forward that all residents and neighborhoods of the district are benefactors of this development. Therefore, we need leadership that will be a vanguard for equality to ensure all voices are represented at the table of decision making.
My name is Darryl Kegler, and my hope is to develop a viable candidacy that will challenge the apathetic attitudes of constituents and the current elected officials in the 188th district. To this end, I aim to significantly increase understanding of civic rights and political awareness by educating citizens through seminars, media campaigns, localized social forums and more. This will ensure in future elections, the district is more informed and involved in the decision making process of the state, helping the representation become more representative of all its residents.
I would like to restore the core values of American democracy, by reinventing an open, honest and accountable government that serves the public interest, empowering ordinary people to make their voices heard in the political process. Resulting in a lively community where Education, Commerce, Culture and Quality of Life thrive.
